U18s beat Canada, 58-39

Not too many details on today's win, because the USA Basketball website is rife with viruses again. (Do not click on the USA Basketball website on the above link; if you're fortunate like me your anti-virus will not let you access it for your own protection).

Dyin to know more details. If anyone's got them, please hit me up. But the U18s haven't lost a game yet, I don't think. That's a great sign.

IM in OC posted this morning, but for whatever reason, it didn't show up. I really appreciate what he wrote, so here it is:

Sue,

The game vs Canada was an exhibtion game. The USA starts play on Wed. vs Argentina. The games are at 5:45 MDT on Wed Thur and Fri. The top 2 teams, in each pool, play Saturday in the semis and then the finals are on Sunday.

Chiney Ogwumike scored 15 points and Bria Hartley had 10 points for the USA team.

Here are two quotes from the USA basketball site

We gave everybody an opportunity in the first half, and we just really never had a flow," said USA U18 and University of Hartford head coach Jennifer Rizotti. "And so in the second half, we just got a really good group out there that was clicking offensively and defensively. We probably haven't had that for a lot of stretches, because when you try to play twelve people, that's what happens."

I like Chineys comment:

Q--- What was the difference in today's second half?

A----The second half, I think we found that one thing that worked for us, and we ran with it and started executing our offense. And we started looking for each other first instead of playing one-on-one, individual basketball. When we played as a team, worked hard to make one good offensive possession and one good defensive possession, we had better sets.
