ESPN shutting down high school section

ESPN is closing its high school business unit, which includes espnhs.com, ESPN Rise Magazine (one of my favorites), another magazine, and its event management service. But:

espnW.com will pick up content about girls' basketball while ESPNRecruitingNation.com will cover high school recruiting.

So what does this mean? Does high school coverage not make enough money for ESPN?

Other high school news:

Preparing mentally is the key to success in the July recruiting period.

Class of 2013 #1 recruit Mercedes Russell improved a lot between her sophomore and junior years. It's why she's the Register-Guard's prep athlete of the year.

There are some great things about growing up in small towns, like decent newspaper coverage and well-deserved recognition.
