Monique was on hand tonight for the Foothill-Inglewood game at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana. She and a few others I've heard from say the officiating was horrendous. Foothill won, 50-46.

I was at the Inglewood v Foothill game. I have no allegiance to either school. I love to watch Hazel Rameriz of IHS and love to watch Marinacci and Shinoda of Foothill. I didnt think there was anything horrendous about the game, from an officials part. I thought Christina Marinacci showed why she is an All American player by her play, in scoring, rebounds, blocked shots and ball control. Foothill built up around a ten point lead, in the first half, and kept it that way until about mid 4th quarter. FH got numerous offensive rebounds leading to second chance points and that was IHS's undoing. Inglewood chipped away some but the closest they got was 4 points.
When people say the refs were horrendous(many said it on the So. Cal hoops board) I wish they were more specific. Both Ramirez and Shinoda had 4 fouls late in the game. Ramirez fouled out with a minute left on either a reach in or blocking foul near half court.
The only negative thing about having the game at MD might be the parking. The Inglewood game had near full crowds for both teams, abit more for FH than Inglewood. This made it hard for the next game, Orange Lutheran vs Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks to get its fans into the parking lot and the gym while the IHS/FHS crowd was leaving. My suggestion is if you want a parking spot tonite is to get to the games before the 2nd of the 3 games on the schedule. There were many people who had to park on the streets in the surrounding area. Plus the crowd getting in and getting out of the gym used the same entrance. MD might do better to open the other gates to let the crowds exit. At the end of the IHS/FHS game it looked like a NYC Subway with people trying to get in and out of a car.
If you cant make it to MD this weekend, I hope to say hi to you if you will be at Pauley next Saturday for the State CIF Southern half finals. If it is a Brea v MD game (Div2) it is a must, more so than a Pac 10 game at Galen.

Thanks much for the report, IM. It's hard to believe that with a facility like that, they didn't build a bigger parking lot.
I'm going to the City Section finals tonight at Galen Center, but will be at MD tomorrow night for the 6:15 and 8 p.m. games. If you see me, definitely say hi.
