Keeping you current

WNBA team news:

Shock....playing in Russia this past winter helped Glory Johnson develop into her current beastly self.

Lynx....Minnesota's 7-3 start pleases both coach Cheryl Reeve and players.

Sky....Elena Delle Donne: a star is born.

Club ball:

The July recruiting period began yesterday. The Flava Jam in Texas got off to a hot start.

Three of 2014's top recruits won't be on the circuit, though, as they're playing for USA Basketball.

Is a college hoop player who remains age-eligible allowed to play for a youth team in the summer?
When I was stepping away from coaching fastpitch softball in the very late '90's, that was becoming a common recruiting practice, particularly among the powerhouse programs like the Orange County Batbusters and Gordon's Panthers from out there in your neck of the woods, Ms.F.
The governing body (ASA) even adjusted the cut-off date for age determination, presumably to abet this practice...and the college coaches didn't seem to object.
