Becky Hammon tore ACL

Just as feared, Silver Stars guard Becky Hammon tore her ACL in Saturday's game against the Sparks. It was her first game of the season, as she had been sitting out with a broken finger.

Other, happier news:

Shock....Skylar Diggins talks about returning to Connecticut as a pro.

College news:

UConn and Cal will headline the Maggie Dixon Classic in December.

A 'risky approach' lead to a personal feel for the Pat Summitt XO documentary, which will air tomorrow night on ESPN.

I second that sentiment, Anonymous.

Re. Coach Summitt
I'd like to share my thoughts from about 18 months ago:

BTW, Ms. F., if you'd care to witness Abacus' politeness dissipate, check out the comment section for this piece. (I also hope you consider shameless self-promotion a mere misdemeanor!)

Abacus,

Didn't know you were a correspondent. Well Played.

You took some heat in the comments but not only are your points well taken but it looks like you have more bloggers agreeing with you than not. Nice job.

The UT fans can be a tough crowd. Looks to me like their WBB program has their hands full now that they only have ten ballers under scholarship. Hope they get some traction on the recruiting side.

Thank you very much for the kind words, though "correspondent" is Bleacher Report's labeling, not mine.

I am to writing what this guy is to singing:

That said, I genuinely admire Coach Summitt and thoroughly enjoyed researching and writing that piece.

Just finished watching the Coach Summitt film.
Two things stand out.
1) "If Mama/Coach isn't happy, ain't nobody happy" re. her benching of Candace Parker. So simple, but hardly easy to pull off.
2) Her advice to Tyler not to tell her what he'd hear from the players and compromise their trust...the other choice must have been tempting.

Oh, and those dogs of hers are beautiful!

Well done, ESPN!
