Tulane: junior Olivia Grayson does it all

Tulane junior guard Olivia Grayson is an exceptional player because she does it all, and has been doing so for a long time, according to longtime head Coach Lisa Stockton.

The 5-foot-8 Louisiana native came in as a freshman during a year when the team was plagued with injuries. As a result, she ended up playing the four and five quite a bit, and doing well at it. In Grayson's sophomore year she was the youngster among many juniors and seniors. This year she's been helping mentor five freshman.

"Her role has gone from 'do everything' to where we put everything on her," Stockton said. "This year she is the one getting the team together for meetings."

Stockton said it's Grayson's versatility both on and off the court that makes her an asset to the Green Wave.

"What makes her special is that some players are just passers and some just rebounders, but Olivia does it all," Stockton said. "She's one of the leading rebounders in our league, and she's our leading scorer."

"She's played every position, and she's done everything I needed her to do."

Grayson averages 13.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Stockton said it's especially impressive considering her height.

"That's just pure determination," she said.

Tulane heads to the C-USA Basketball Championships Wednesday.
