Dramatic afternoon

Just a short time ago, North Carolina State upset #6 Duke in the ACC quarterfinals, 75-73. Earlier, #18 Georgia Tech slipped by North Carolina. So for the first time since 1993, the ACC finals will not feature either the Blue Devils nor the Tar Heels.

At the SEC Tournament in Nashville, former Lady Vol Chamique Holdsclaw was presented her award as an SEC great. Then halftime was extended as the city was under tornado watch. The game just resumed a bit ago.

In Big East news, Kim Barnes Arico of St. John's is the conference coach of the year, while Notre Dame's Skylar Diggins is the player of the year.

In other big news:

Last night, Tulane senior Brett Benzio eclipsed both the 1,000-point mark and the 1,000-rebound mark.

Central Arkansas - featuring one of our picks for mid-major coaches to watch out for in Matt Daniel - is the Southland Conference champion. If they win tomorrow, they'll achieve a 16-0 home record for the first time.

Nazareth lost in their bid for the New York City basketball title last night.

I've gotta go sit down!
