I never heard the term "Letter of Athletic Aid" as it was used in the first paragraph of the attachment you lnked. I wonder if it means they will pay for her school costs for the year she has to sit out?

Yes, she will be on scholarship.
"Letter of Athletic Aid" is the official jargon for athletic scholarship.
So much jargon in education, no matter what the level......
