A miracle in the AP poll

In this week's AP poll it's a dream come true for me, as someone else in the Pac-10 is ranked higher than Stanford: UCLA is eighth and the Cardinal, ninth. I'm going to savor that for as long as possible.......

More sad news, as former Lady Vol Melissa McCray-Dukes died this morning after a long battle with breast cancer. She helped Tennessee win their first two national titles in 1987 and 1989. Fans react to her death.

On the upside, former Vol and Terp Sade Wiley-Gatewood is now coaching high school basketball in San Diego.

ESPN has their Nike TOC checklist. The class of 2011 hot players are all Californians, and I can vouch for the first one. Let's see which college is smart enough to scoop her up.

i had an opportunity to meet sade back in '09. i was at a georgetown game when she arrived with rissa and some other terps. i had my pic taken with her and we briefly spoke. the next day, i was at comcast arena for the terp game. after, my friends who are terps boosters, got me into the team event where i had the pleasure of seeing her again. she remembered me and we chatted for a couple moments.

she's very sweet and i wish her only the best.
