Tonight's game results not wholly unexpected

Tamika Catchings paced the Fever past the Shock, 80-69, with 28 points. Indiana snapped a seven-game losing streak with the victory.

Leading MVP candidate Angel McCoughtry lead the red hot Dream over the Mystics, 86-75, with 21 points. Atlanta is now 9-1.

The Lynx avenged last Friday's loss by routing the Sparks, 88-64.

The Liberty slipped by the Storm, 67-62, to secure their first road win.

It's getting hard to tell what Sparks team is going to show up next. Surprising to me.

Nice piece on Shoni Schimmel. The Louisville upset of Baylor is nominated for upset of the year on the ESPYs. They're the only women's team represented in that group of nominees. So unless you hate Louisville you can vote online for them to win the award at the following link.

As far as W attendance goes we're now a bit over a quarter done with the season. 56 games or 27% of the schedule are now complete. Over the past 15 games attendance has improved substantially. Now averaging 7386 attendees per game which is 1% below last year end. There continues to be wide variances between games at the same venue. Some of this appears to be due to special promotions like Kid Matinees, Gay Pride Week and other such marketing pushes so it is hard to tell if this trend will continue.

In any case 10 days ago it was down by 2.5%, so it's going in the right direction. By mid season we should have enough data to pretty accurately project year end attendance based upon averages.
