Taking Big Monday to another level: 55 minutes, 50 points

What a night in college hoops.

Notre Dame outlasted UConn in three overtimes, 96-87. It was the first triple-OT game in Irish history, and the last home game for senior point guard Skylar Diggins. She played all 55 minutes and put up 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Notre Dame claimed the Big East title. The Huskies set a school record 36 turnovers.

Pictures.

Someone said on twitter tonight that Notre Dame Coach Muffet McGraw is UConn Coach Geno Auriemma's kryptonite. Interesting thought.

Rebecca Lobo analyzes.

On the other side of the country, Brittney Griner was pacing Baylor over Kansas State. She did it with a Big 12 single-game record 50 points, which included a spin dunk.

In the third key match up of the evening, Syracuse upset Louisville, 68-57.

Full scoreboard.

More college news, and it's big stuff:

After their bus accident last week, UMaine has opted out of the America East Tournament.

Carrie Slaton has resigned as Southern Arkansas coach after a winless season.

Nevada's second-leading scorer, Chanelle Brennan, has been dismissed from the team for violating team rules.

Ohio State's run of Big Ten players of the year has come to an end.

Family ties have prepared North Carolina freshman Xylina McDaniel for the post-season.

Delaware seniors are reflecting on the final days of their college careers.

This to shall pass. Summitt was Genos Kryptonite at one point and he overcame that. I remember when V Stringer had the upperhand in the BE. ND didnt beat Conn., Connecticut beat Connecticut. That game shouldve been over after Regulation. Congrats to them though.

If UConn can't shoot freethrows better than that they don't deserve to win.

Felt kinda bad for Doty. She was a hellava baller at one time but just can't impact the game on one leg. She hasn't been able to play enough to get going this year and it showed against ND. Of course Geno was all over her. Probably well deserved but tough to watch. She's a gamer.

I thought that Diggin's flop on the Dolson pick / final foul was a total joke. Horrible call. No one but Diggins gets that call. Looked like a total homer for ND. In any case UConn could have won the game in spite of that but didn't.

Good game. They'll probably meet in the Big East tourney championship game when UConn will have home court.
