Big West Conference and super high school showdown previews for Jan. 26

Tomorrow I'm covering the Cal Poly at Cal State Northridge game at 4 p.m. PST. I'm pleased to join Big West Conference play-by-play announcer Ghizal Hasan on the radio. Listen to the gamecast HERE.

All conference games are also aired free this year on Big West TV.

The game pits last year's conference leaders, as the Mustangs finished 12-4 in league and the Matadors, 11-5.

This season finds Poly and CSUN third and fourth, respectively, in Big West play, as Pacific and Hawaii have crept into the top two spots. The Matadors have struggled lately, dropping their last three games. The Mustangs lost to Hawaii last night - their first non-win since Jan. 3.

Other Big West match ups tomorrow are:

UC Irvine at Long Beach State
UC Davis at UC Riverside
Pacific at Cal State Fullerton
UCSB at Hawaii

From there I will high tail it to Windward High School, where the sixth-ranked Wildcats, at 20-0, take on #19 Long Beach Poly, which is 16-2.

Windward is lead by USC-signee Courtney Jaco and junior Jordin Canada, whose stats don't seem to be available on the school's maxpreps page.

Poly's Arica Carter is their high scorer, averaging 11.3 points per game, and senior Keyla Morgan (8.9 ppg) and sophomore Tania Lamb (8.1 ppg) are also strong contributors.

It should be an exciting night.
