Brea Olinda and Mater Dei to face off Friday night

It's #1 vs. #2 in Anaheim Friday night in the CIF 1AA final.

Semifinal recap from last night:

With star post Justine Hartman nursing a hyperextended knee, junior Jeanier Olukeme scored nine of her game-high 15 points during the third quarter of No. 1 Brea Olinda's 55-36 victory over Canyon Springs (Moreno Valley, Calif.) in the California Southern Section 1AA semifinals on Tuesday night.

Brea Olinda (Brea, Calif.) will meet No. 2 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) for the sectional championship at the Anaheim Convention Center on Friday night.

Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis, the No. 1 senior in the country and Connecticut bound, had 20 points and 11 rebounds as the Monarchs beat Santa Monica (Santa Monica, Calif.) 57-37. Santa Monica had upset then-No. 2 Long Beach Poly (Long Beach, Calif.) in the sectional quarterfinals.

A UCLA signee ranked No. 7 in the senior class, Hartman suffered a hyperextended right knee, the same knee that she's had surgically repaired, late in the first quarter and sat the rest of the first half. Hartman returned in the second half, but Olukeme, whom Brea coach Jeff Sink considers among the best athletes he's ever coached, set a winning tone for Brea.

Olukeme, who had 20 points during Brea's first-round sectional win over San Clemente (San Clemente, Calif.), helped engineer an upset of then-No. 1 Mater Dei last season with 17 points.

Brea used to be MD's kryptonite.....wonder if they will be again?
