Actually if you read the blogs 2 were surprises - Hartman wasn't even chosen as mVP of their league and neither was Ervin, Rodriguez was and I have to agree with some of them that as she has not improved since last year and by all accounts doesn't put in the work and the word on Zornig was that she had 2 bigs and a good PG and yet didn't help her team just racked up points.

CIF coaches voted Ervin and Rodriguez as co mvps and I the bloggers feel they got it right.

I always wonder who comes up with these lists. The All-City team was literally just put up on the CIF website, and I'm disgusted at some of the omissions. I was going to post the list when it came out, but I don't think I'll bother now.

The Orange County list is probably done by Carlos Arias of the OC Register.

I dont think Hartman deserved to be on the top team. Marinacci, Ervin, and Lewis were definites. You can make cases for other girls but I would have included Zornig. The girls she played with this year were not as talented as the previous year. Zornig had to do much more work. Santa Margarita lost three girls after 2007-2008 and two were very good in Oosdyke and Gipe. The current team had some ok girls but they werent as good as the ones they lost.
A fifth choice could have been Petersen of Mission Viejo, Engln of Laguna Hills(who verballed yesterday), Sanchez of Troy, Salvatorre of Villa Park, Ward of Woodbridge, Shinoda of Foothill or Harberts of San Clemente. I think all of the above played better than Hartman and in most cases played with less talent around them than Hartman had. I think Rodriguez of Brea had very good playoff games plus some good games vs Cajon and MD but I didnt see enough of her except for three or four games this year.

Top 5 teams in OC were Brea, Mater Dei, Foothill, Troy, Edison so those girls did not do anything with their teams.

4 of these teams made it to CIF Finals in D2 one of the top divisions in socal and Troy to semis in D1- so if the girls you mention were that good why did their teams not make it farther. Woodbridge was the only other team on OC that did well, granted in a weaker Division like Foothill. The Zornig argument doesn't fly as she had 2 6' girls who will play in college and another 2 guards who handled and set screens for her, Laguna hills made it into top ten but couldn't dent any of the teams above them, San Clemente had 4 6' players that could play in college and barely made #10 and then some argued they should'nt be there as they didn't do well at all this season in fact that would be considered underachieving by most so why those girls even made 2nd team is beyond me. Mission Viejo had 1 girl and some solid role players but she didn't make any of thee rest of her team better and the team didn't do well. I agree that Rodriguez did way better than Hartman (that pick was just rediculous) but also Harris but Ward, Samuelson and Sanchez did better than those other girls with their teams along with Harris and Adams.

I agree - the blogs on oc register are full of parents pushing their own agenda and Carlos has no clue - he slighted a lot of girls in OC who helped their team into the top 5 and put girls on the lists whos teams couldn't even crack it or compete with them - the Hartman thing is a hype job carried over from last year, Sink chose Rodriguez as MVP of their league and Carlos didn't even see that, CIF did.
