Upset-fest

Upset city today in college hoops.

The one that has me scratching my head is Kansas routing #10 Cal, 62-39. The Golden Bears held the Jayhawks scoreless for the first four minutes, but Kansas had the lead by the first media timeout, and kept it the rest of the way. It was Cal's lowest point total in 4.5 years, and their first loss of the season. Courtney Range sustained a left knee injury during game action, and had to be carried off the court.

Yikes.

#13 Kentucky upended #7 Louisville, 77-68. It was the Cardinal's first loss as well.

Also sustaining their first loss was #12 Nebraska, who went down to Alabama, 53-51.

#19 Georgia upset #16 Michigan State, 69-60. The Bulldogs are unbeaten, and I wonder why the Spartans have only played seven games so far.

Then there was the almost-upset game......#1 South Carolina needed a put-back from freshman A'ja Wilson to get away from #9 Duke, 51-50.

So, to recap: Notre Dame, Arkansas-Little Rock, Ohio and Southern Utah took their first losses yesterday, which makes seven less undefeated teams this weekend.

Remember that the season is only three weeks and two days old. I'm pumped.

More results:
