My notes:
Amazing crowd of over 19,000 in attendance in Denver last night. The Baylor-Stanford game was the most hyped, but it was the Notre Dame-UConn match up that was the most thrilling. The last minute of regulation, with the turnovers and steals, was literally breathtaking; the atmosphere inside the arena was charged.
As Baylor and Stanford began their game, Irish players came out of the locker room to watch for a bit before leaving at the half.
Speaking of halftime, all the previous USA Olympic team coaches were honored in a ceremony that included Teresa Grentz, Van Chancellor, Nell Fortner, Anne Donovan, Geno Auriemma.....and Pat Summitt, who was the last to be introduced. When she came onto the court she received a standing ovation. I was a little choked up.
By the way, there are Tennessee fans everywhere in this city, wearing Tenn and or Lady Vol T-shirts, and some "we back Pat" shirts. Vol fans are truly everywhere.
You can follow my live game updates on twitter.com/hoopism. Last night I was sitting with my partner in crime Cheryl, so was also tweeting under twitter.com/hoopfeed. I had the words, and she tweeted some great photos of game and non-game action last night, so check them out if you haven't, as well as hoopfeed.com.
The weather has taken an abrupt turn today, from literally 70s-80s to windy and 40s-50s. I am about to venture out again, but will report back later.
