Last night's SoCal Southern Section high school playoff results
No true surprises from last night's first-round results, as the usual top suspects - Mater Dei, Long Beach Poly and Brea Olinda - advance.

In Division 1AA the #4 seed, Edison HS of Huntington Beach won their opening game 74-44 over Quartz Hill. The score wasnt odd, as the game figured to be one sided, however, Edisons best two players, Karlie and Katie Lou Samuelson did not appear in the box score. The OC Register had a report that Karlie might miss the playoffs with a case of Mono and an enlarged spleen. There is no mention of why freshman Katie Lou missed the game. Both are the younger sisters of Stanfords freshman Bonnie Samuelson.
