Checking in from various departments........

WNBA playoffs department:

The Liberty squished the Fever, 85-73.

Phoenix beat San Antonio in the Western Conference game.

WNBA awards department:

DeWanna Bonner has won the WNBA's Sixth Woman Award for the second consecutive year.

Leilani Mitchell is the WNBA's Most Improved Player of the Year.

Tennessee lands a big fish department:

Ariel Massengale has always wanted to be a Lady Vol. Now the top recruit has committed to her dream school.

High school department:

ESPN lists its top 35 club ball teams from this summer, which features quite a few California teams and players. I don't agree with their rationale on placing the U17's over the U18's, but everything else pretty much gels.

Best of summer player's list.

"I got skillz" list. Bless ESPN for making these lists.

Mark Lewis warns that before they release their player rankings for the fall, there are several criteria.

Seattle Storm department:

ESPN Los Angeles' take on last night's win over the Sparks.

The Storm humor department:

Sue Bird and Swin Cash rap an acceptance speech.

I LOVE the human beat box! I wish it would come back.

As funny as that video is, I can think of two interviews with Bird from around 2003 that were even more humorous. One was her sitting next to former UConn teammate/Minnesota Lynx player Tamika Williams rapping, and the other was Bird describing how much she loved the Notorious B.I.G., and reciting his line, "I love it when you call me Big Poppa."

What the hell? department:

Apparently a UConn fan robbed a bank today.
