She left yesterday for Ekaterinburg, Russia to play for 3-4 months, depending upon whether or not her team makes the playoffs.
As per twitter, husband Shelden was pretty bummed yesterday, and was cleaning house to distract himself. Candace began tweeting about 9 p.m. PST last night, not knowing how to feed daughter Lailaa because of the 12-hour time difference. Her layover in Germany today was eventful, and she noticed Germans stand much closer together than Americans. She said mother Sara, who is with her, "noticed that it was cold." I bet.
An hour ago Parker tweeted: So I feel like rocky goin to russia to fight Drago! In the frozen tundra gettn better! "If he dies he dies" lol
A few minutes ago she "twitpic"ed this snow scene.
Looks like the youngsta is doin OK so far.
In the meantime, the Seattle Storm's Sue Bird is also on the way back to Russia. But it's a painful thing for her in the wake of November's assasination of the owner of her team, Shabtai von Kalmanovic, who she also considered a friend.
Words can't express how much I admire the women of basketball who go overseas to make a living doing what they love. I wish things were different in this world.
