It's all about July recruiting right now

The schedule was set a long time ago, and the last two days, every coach I follow on twitter has been hopping planes, fighting sleep deprivation and watching basketball until their eyes fall out. It's exciting.

The last EOT games of the night are still wrapping up, but they'll be posted within the next few hours on the brackets.

Hoopgurlz has been doing a good job with the blow-by-blow not only there, but at the Big State Flava Jam in Texas.

Interesting little tidbit on that page about Brea Olinda's Justine Hartman:

Justine Hartman decides she wants to be closer to home, picks UCLA after decommiting from Boston College.

Wow.

And Hoopgurlz has a nice feature on Moriah Jefferson, the DFW Elite player who was cut from the U18 team. She's using the snub as motivation to do better. Good for her.

I know she's been injured as of late, but have you ever seen Justine Hartman play, Sue? Do you have any thoughts? If forced to choose between Hartman and Too Tall, what choice would you make?

Justine is a great player, and she's been well-coached by Jeff Sink. She's ranked higher than Too Tall.

Downsides: she's been out for the whole year with the dreaded ACL. I have no idea how she's recovered.

Too Tall's upsides: she hasn't been injured, she just played for USA Basketball, and she works harder than 99 percent of the players I know.

Yet, I don't feel like I know Hartman well enough to make a choice. UCLA is lucky to have her, though.

Let's not forget, Too Tall has closed the gap on a lot of the bigs ranked ahead of her since hoopgurlz last revised the rankings. I think a lot of people fail to realize that she only started played AAU baskeball as a Freshman. She is waaaaaaaay...behind her peers in terms of years played, and she continues to improve at a rapid pace. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw her make another considerable jump when the 2011 rankings are revised for the last time.

If given the choice, I would always choose an uninjured player on rise over a highly ranked player with a major injury who may have peaked, but that's just me.

I too have not seen enough of Justine to make a definitive judgment. Only time will tell...
