Big 12 and Oregon State

First the Big 12 news conference regarding rumors of the conference's supposed break up was cancelled. Now Commissioner Dan Beebe says he's "comfortable" the league will stay intact. Which is it?

In the meantime, the Pac-10 is supposedly going to expand. In which state? California would seem the logical answer.

Swish Appeal asks, "What is going on at Oregon State University?" He concludes that Athletic Director Bob De Carolis should probably find a job elsewhere, and I agree. De Carolis tried to speak the other day.

The third-to-last paragraph of the entire piece is very interesting for its rumor about Mark Trakh.

Interesting that an author derides a newspaper article for saying nothing new when he himself essentially rehashes everything. New, oh yes, the Trakh rumor. I've known and followed Mark Trakh since his Pepperdine days and have NEVER heard of him being "harsh" with his players. How many girls did he ever lose to transfer? His relationship with the club and high school coaches remains excellent. Did you ever talk to the girls who played for him? If not, do so. They remain fiercely loyal to him.

Sue, I know you were quoted in the article, but I found the entire thing a waste of time and space but of course, throw in a nasty rumor and things take on a different life. Shame on this "author".

It's cool - I was quoted in the piece but didn't know I was going to be quoted. I didn't have anything to do with the writing of it, nor do the opinions expressed within it reflect mine.

I will hopefully have something by the end of the weekend that will address the Mark Trakh rumors, so stay tuned.

I also wanted to point out that the end result is that OSU is not considering any African American females for head coach. They are looking at other assistants but Wagner has muddied their water. Take a look at the comments calling her an "affirmative action hire."

The author of the piece has gone on record that he has spoken to two, count em, two sources about Mark Trakh.

So you're saying OSU is racist and two sources are saying something about Mark Trakh. You need to sign your name.

Excuse me? Where in my post did I accuse OSU of being racist? I pointed out that at this time, there are no African American females being considered for head coach. If you have a strong stomach, try reading through the comments on any of the articles about Wagner if you want to know about racism in this situation.

And just to let you know, my parents were both interned in relocation camps during WWII. Racism is not a tag I take lightly.

Thanks, Kerry.

This entire paragraph (I also wanted to point out that the end result is that OSU is not considering any African American females for head coach. They are looking at other assistants but Wagner has muddied their water. Take a look at the comments calling her an "affirmative action hire.") reads like an allegation unless you can cite a source where you got this information. Do you have a link?
