News: judge throws out Marist player's lawsuit, former UW players unite for a cause

Katheryn Lyons' lawsuit was dismissed last month by a judge. Lyons had claimed discrimination after school officials suspended her and rescinded her scholarship after they found she was suffering from psychological problems. What a sad story.

In Seattle, former University of Washington players have united to help another former teammate who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis. I would comment on the story, but I'm too disturbed and bothered by the fact that longtime Seattle Times sports columnist Steve Kelley referred to former UW coach June Daugherty as "Jill Daugherty" in the piece. The copy editors didn't catch it either, as they put the errant name in the online subhead, too.

UW Players uniting.

The story now says June, whether they made the correction after getting emails, I'm not sure, since this is the first time I've heard about this story.

It is silly of you not to comment because he wrote the wrong name. It's not that big of a deal. Yes, it is careless for a professional writer but it happens. But it's only mole hill. Don't make a mountain over it.

But you should know what a woman of integrity, Melissa Erickson is.

Hell that worthless writer for the Daily News Romona Shelburg gets names wrong all the time. But it's only mole hill. Don't make a mountain over it.

Oooookkaaayyyy.

What relation does the story you linked have to the UW player piece?

And as far as the wrong name being posted, it is indeed a big deal. Newspaper people used to get fired for that. Kelley has been around long enough that he deserves some shame for screwing that one up.
