Tennessee grabs signature win over Texas

What a day on the court!

The biggest win of the day - and the week - was #11 Tennessee's takedown of previously-undefeated #2 Texas, 82-75.

No team in the Holly Warlick era has upset a higher-ranked opponent. Seniors Jamie Nared and Mercedes Russell lead the way, but freshman Evina Westbrook had a career-high 15 points, and the entire team played cohesively and aggressively. It was the kind of basketball Lady Vol fans have been waiting to see again for years. This team is for real this season.

Also:

Balanced Miami toppled #20 Kentucky, 65-54.

Think about all that's happened the last seven days, and how different the AP top 25 poll will look tomorrow.

Other upendings:

San Diego knocked off Minnesota, 72-69.

Ohio's 77-71 win over Purdue is the Bobcat's first victory over the Boilermakers since 1982.

More results:

#13 Florida State held back Arizona State, 77-66.

#22 Villanova escaped Temple, 69-65, to remain unbeaten.

#25 Cal held off Pacific, 92-85.

New Mexico got past Navy, 94-87, in OT. The Lobos are now 11-0; it was the first loss of the year for Navy.

Virginia Tech routed Chattanooga, 64-44.

All scores.

Most teams are wrapping up finals this week, so the game schedule will be light. Tomorrow's schedule features only 15 games.

College player news:
