Trudi Lacey finally fired

As Madea would say, hellelujayer!

Trudi Lacey was fired as Mystics coach and general manager today, after two seasons of single-digit wins.

President and Managing Partner Sheila C. Johnson said the franchise is looking for a fresh start. Assistant coaches won't be retained.

History of Lacey's hiring.

ESPN thinks this is a step in the direction of change for the Mystics. Personally, I'll believe it when I see it.

'Bout time Lacey got the boot. Should have happened a long time ago. I wonder why it took Mystics management so long to do it.

Looks like you got you wish. They should have the best odds of getting the #1 pick given their W/L record.

If Johnson still has the money and energy to retain ownership and hires a qualified coach they could be on top in a year or two if they snag Griner or EDD.

They should hire Meadors. She can handle anything after dealing with McCoughtry.

Lacey screws up every team she touches. Sheila Johnson didn't want to pay a separate GM and coach or she would never have had the disaster she has on her hands now.
I'm not particularly fond of Marynell, but she knows how to put a competent staff together. With the talent this team has and will have, a good coach should take them where they belong. Much as I DON'T like the Mystics, they deserved better.

Yep. I don't really know that much about Meadors, but given her resume, maturity and unwillingness to tolerate BS from Angel I'm a believer in her if she's willing to jump back in the game at this stage in her life.
