WNBA MVP race winds down, colleges winding up

WNBA:

The race for the MVP is down to 10:

Tina Charles
Tamika Catchings
Sylvia Fowles
Angel McCoughtry
Lindsay Whalen
Diana Taurasi
Cappie Pondexter
Sue Bird
Becky Hammon
Seimone Augustus

One analysis.

The WNBA Cares Community Assist Award for August goes to Seattle Storm forward Swin Cash.

No triple-double for Tina Charles last Friday: she was incorrectly given three assists. Was that the stat person's error or what?

NCAA:

Cal State Northridge has reloaded for the season, and then some - check out my story.

Gonzaga has some super frosh.

USC has released its season schedule and WOW! They're taking on all the dragons: Nebraska, Georgia, Notre Dame, Duke, Gonzaga and Texas A&M? Talk about stepping up to the plate.

Nice piece on CSUN. I live about a block away and get out to a few of their games every year. They have had a couple bad years. Hopefully the tide is turning for them.

SC has some challenging games on their schedule. I hope they can pick up a few wins in the preseason. That coupled with a good showing in the conference should get them into the tournament this year.

Thanks!

And I think you're right about USC. They want to make it to the big dance.....
