Okay I pondered the list and her you go... I think some picks are obvious and others I picked because of what they have meant to the league or the impact they have had on the league as a whole. On some hands it is somewhat of a popularity contest, but for me you can't deny that they have all impacted the W.
I think there are a couple out there that could've been added, Vicki Johnson, Kim Perrot, Cheryl Miller, etc. They were there in the beginning and were instrumental to the early success of the WNBA.
Lisa Leslie - Obvious Pick (OP)
Cynthia Cooper - OP
Tina Thompson - OP
Sheryl Swoopes _ OP
Katie Smith - OP
Teresa Weatherspoon - OP
Yolanda Griffith - OP
Lauren Jackson - OP
Diana Taurasi - talent alone
Taj Mc WilliamsFranklin - longevity
Tamika Catchings - success thru challenges
Natalie Williams - heart, intensity
Ticha Penicheiro - longevity, skill
Becky Hammon - my only ???
Candace Parker - new face of the W
Okay switch Becky for Dawn Staley, didn't intially see her name.
That's a pretty good list, Gail. I admire you for even contemplating it in the first place.
Just for fun, I count what are probably eleven locks: (alphabetically) Bird; Cooper; Griffith; Jackson; Leslie; K. Smith; Staley; Swoopes; Taurasi; Thompson; Weatherspoon. A likely additon is Catchings. The last three slots look like toss-ups between so many deserving players.
