You knew the Fever weren't going to drop two in their own house, and they came through by beating the Lynx, 75-69, and forcing a game 5:
“The heart that they’ve shown all season long, the unselfishness that they’ve shown all season long, the togetherness they built throughout the season … It’s been incredible to watch this team to where we started to where we are right now,” White said.
The Fever had to blend new parts. They started the season 3-6 and, with January injured, lost five of six late in the summer. In the middle, they were 14-3, showing signs of a championship team.
And Tamika Catchings on rookie coach Stephanie White:
“Steph has done a great job this year, just coaching us and the positivity that she’s had with all the players,” Tamika Catchings said before the game. “It’s been an indescribable year, and I’m sure one that all of us will remember for the rest of our lives.”
The Fever weren't ready for their season to end.
Tamika Catchings had an emphatic block early in the game. Shenise Johnson even had one in the fourth quarter. The Fever were just on fire.
This will be the first game 5 in the finals since 2009.....when it was the Fever vs. the Mercury.
Indiana is now 5-0 in elimination games this postseason.
The Fever have now won 35 postseason games, which is the most of any franchise in league history.
The lack of drama wasn't good for Lynx fans.
The Fever-Lynx series is the kind that should go down to the wire.
Game 5 will be 5 p.m. Pacific/8 p.m. Eastern Wednesday on ESPN2.
