Busy day of close games:
The Shock got by the Sky in overtime, 105-99, behind Skylar Diggins' career-high 33 points.
The Liberty stopped a losing skid and downed the Dream, 85-78, despite Angel McCoughtry's 33 points.
The Stars held on to edge the Stars, 72-69, by yours truly.
The Lynx survived the Fever, 83-77.
The Storm squeaked by the Mystics in overtime, 89-86.
Whew! That's a work out.
Some other quotes from San Antonio coach Dan Hughes that couldn't fit into my story.....
On his bigs:
"Our big people can pass and catch, and that's a great asset. They all have almost guard-like numbers."
On the Sparks:
"You add Kristi Toliver and they're hard to beat. They're playing without a player that is probably exactly what they need. They do a lot of things well. All of us in the league know there are periods where you have to deal with people getting hurt and people away, and you have to deal with it. You put Wiggins on that team and you put Toliver on that team and that's a supremely good basketball team. They're just going through a period where they're waiting to get those people back."
"(Candace) Parker to me is playing, even for her, at an upper level. Statistically you look at her and, what do you do? Because she's passing it well this year, as well as all the other things."

Lynx home announcing team talked WAY TOO MUCH about their schedule and days off and flying commuter. A little of that stuff goes a long way, folks. If you don't have anything new to say, try being quiet. Game noise is cool.
